Photo Credit: Stock Pictures for Everyone
As you would have noticed, I am trying to use image(s)/ photo(s) in most of my recent posts. I think images make a post colourful! All those pictures were taken by me. But what if I am writing an article on how a city looks beautiful during the night, but don’t have a photo to go with the post?
Most of the photos that you find on the Internet are copyrighted, and cannot be put on your blogs without the consent of the blog author. So, Google Images may not be the best source to search for photos to put up on your blog.
Nita, the author of A Wide Angle View of India (She is not writing there anymore, but it was one of the first blogs I saw on the Internet and got inspired to start my own) has recently started a blog called ‘Stock Pictures for Everyone’ where she updates with many photos that she has in her collection, which can be used by blogs and websites for free (You need to attribute the photo (give a link, as I have done with the photo taken from that blog, in this post) to her website – More details on this can be found in the ‘Attribution’ section of her blog). You can search for photos on particular topics, over there as well.
Of course, there are other sources for free photos on the Internet like –
http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/by-2.0/ where you can find photos to use in your blog for free. Even the above link requires you to give an attribution to the profile of the photographer on flickr whose photos you are using. Its web courtesy to do so, as some credit should go to the people who have put some efforts to take photographs.
