Incredible India: Vittala Temple, Hampi, Karnataka

Vittala Temple, hampi

The Vittala Temple, Hampi, Karnataka, South India is a perfect example of the grandiose Vijayanagara art. Located at the center of the capital city of the erstwhile Vijayanagara empire, this Temple houses impressive sculptures. The stone chariot is the symbol of Karnataka Tourism and the Musical pillars make musical sounds when tapped on them (visitors can’t do that anymore). The majestic Temple tower was destroyed (along with the city) and stands half-burnt. More info/pics here.
