The Tata Grande Indiblogger Chennai Meet!

I got a mail from Indiblogger team requesting me to register for the Indiblogger meet in Chennai, if I was interested. Actually, my Indiblogger profile was set to Coimbatore and still they sent this notification to me. But since I was back in Chennai a few months ago, and did not have anything to do on this Sunday, I decided to go!

Actually, I had attended one Indiblogger meet in Bangalore before about two years. It was held in the Microsoft campus and the Microsoft guys were premiering their new OS – Windows 7 , back then. I was about to feature it in my blog, but one of the Microsoft persons said that he was not aware of Ubuntu! After hearing such a profound statement, I changed my mind!

But the Tata Grande guys were actually sweet. They made a decent short presentation, allowed a few Bloggers to test drive their car and even brought a couple of Tata Grande cars inside the venue, so that we can take photos! Here is one that I took:

Tata Grande photo in the indiblogger meet at chennaiThe venue for the Tata Grande Indiblogger Chennai meet was the Hyatt Regency hotel at Anna Salai. This is the first time I was visiting this place, and looks like it was opened recently. The conference room, where the meet was held was actually gorgeous!

indiblogger chennai meet conference room photoAs usual, the Indiblogger meet started with registration (they stamped a seal on my hands!) and then continued with the 49 Seconds Fame where all the Bloggers could introduce their blogs in 49 seconds. There were so many serious and funny introductions! I actually loved this part. But,

My name was never called! I would have loved to tell the story behind my blog, but alas! Indiblogger, you missed an awesome story man. I know its not their fault, its actually the fault of the software developers and software testers who came up with that introductory application. But the idea was nice, nevertheless.

That was followed by a short presentation by Tata Grande guys and then there was another presentation by some drama troupe who made few plays using the script generated by Bloggers in their blog posts. I forgot the complex name of this organization – If anyone remembers, do let know in the comments section.

That was followed by ‘High Tea’. Ok there was no tea available, but Coffee and desserts were definitely there! Thanks guys, this is one of the things that I love about Indiblogger meets! πŸ˜€ Last time it was Pizza’s and coke (In Bangalore) πŸ™‚

indiblogger meet chennaiIf you are wondering what the above picture is, so was I! Actually, Indiblogger gave us an empty chart to collect the names of the blogs of the other Bloggers present in that meet and some innovative soul came up with that interesting cartoon during the time we were going around collecting various blog URL’s! Mate, your efforts have not gone in vain πŸ˜€

This was followed by a round table discussion (actually we pulled the chairs and made some circles). There were a few topics for each group/ circle. We were asked to join any topic that we liked and participate in a discussion on that topic.

I remember two circles having all the fun of the evening. Instead of discussing anything worthwhile, they did all crazy things like shouting, honking the Tata Grande’s horn in a musical tone, disrupting other talks by barging into other groups/circles and dancing, etc! πŸ™‚

After that we took a joint photo – Not sure if so many people (200+) fit in a single frame! The photographer should have had a tough time. While going, the Indiblogger team even gave us a T-Shirt πŸ™‚ Ok, this was new – I didn’t get it last time. Not that I am complaining! Keep innovating with the free gifts Indiblogger – You are setting new heights, and breaking your own records πŸ˜€ Looking forward to the next meet.

Actually my location info said I was in Coimbatore. That’s why they didn’t call the first time. But slightly afterwards, I got a mail from them informing of the meet. And fortunately, there were enough seats. Has there been any Indiblogger meets in UK?

I was able to attend the Indiblogger meet after 2 years. It happens frequently, but at different places. But I think the frequency of Blogger meets at Chennai should be better.

πŸ™ I am so jealous of you. I missed the IndiBlogger Meet in Bangalore as I was down with typhoid πŸ™ I had to cancel my registration at the last moment. πŸ™
Coming back to your post- you seemed to have a pretty good time. Where is the group picture by the way? πŸ™‚

    1. Rajesh K

I didn’t take the group picture – The crowd was huge and surely wouldn’t have fit into my cell phone screen.

We did have fun!!! Yes, we did miss your 49 seconds. I liked the simple manner this post reads. And, I was also part of that ‘vetti group’ which did silly things. Which group were you in?

Keep in touch and thanks for coming by my place.

    Joy always,
    Susan

    1. Rajesh K

Yeah, I was imagining telling my story to all the Bloggers and getting an applause. But alas! πŸ™‚ I guess there is always a next time… I was in the technical/ professional blogging group – Difficult to believe, but that’s what I am!
