An Iranian Restaurant in ECR, Chennai – Shiraz Cafe (Inside Cholamandalam Arts Village campus)

Iranian-Restaurant-In-Chennai-5

I was actually photographing some stone sculptures outside the museum in Cholamandalam Arts Village campus (ECR, Chennai), when I accidentally went inside this Shiraz Cafe. I was welcomed by a gentleman who was the relative of the owner of this cafe. I told him that I write about tourist places in Chennai in my blog and he requested me to write about their restaurant. Since I don’t get requests like this everyday, and since I wanted to take some photographs inside their cafe, I agreed!

It seems, the owner of this cafe lives in the Cholamandalam artists village, and is an artist. I was able to take a few nice photos inside this restaurant, which I have shared below. The guy I met told me that this was the only Iranian restaurant in Chennai and they serve buffet on Sundays. They serve both Iranian and Indian food. He asked me to have Iranian Tea, but I didn’t have time, so I took photos and went back to the museum.

Here are some photos I took at this restaurant –

Address: Cholamandalam Artist’s Village, Injambakkam, East Coast Road (ECR), Chennai.

How to reach: From the city (where ever you are), go to Tiruvanmayur and from there you need to go to East Coast Road (ECR). The Shiraz Cafe is inside the Cholamandalam artist’s village, which can be seen on the left (of the main road), around 5-8 KM from the beginning of the ECR.

Yes. The artistic objects were mixed with the normal seating arrangements quite tastefully!

Due to lack of time, I was not able to eat anything here. Actually, I went in accidentally!

This place is wonderful and really inviting for a treat… wonder how I miss these places that I often passed. It’s hard to see an open restaurant these days, and with beautiful arts craft . Great photos!

Yes, the concept of open restaurant, if maintained neatly (and no rains/summer) is good. But they have an indoor section as well.

When was this started? I don’t remember seeing this when I visited years ago. Rajesh, can you also add a dash of dates (I meant historical dates ;)) to some posts like this one.

    Joy always,

Yes. I’ll try to get the starting date info from the places I visit in future.
