My New Camera: Panasonic Lumix FZ1000

Panasonic lumix fz1000 4k video camera
In my previous post, I told you that we went to Thrissur on a trip to buy a camera. But I realised I didn’t show you which camera we bought. So here it is – Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 Bridge Camera that can shoot 4K video, do 120fps slow-mo, has 18x optical zoom, 5-axis optical stabilisation, 1-inch sensor, and most importantly 3.5mm audio jack to connect to external microphones. Here are some more reasonsΒ on why I bought this model – if you are interested.

I like this camera very much, but it’s a used (one-year old) model. So the risk of any malfunction falls on me. I hope it will hang on for one or 1.5 years by which time I’ll buy a better camera (by which time manufacturers will release another gem like this). Nevertheless, in the meanwhile, I look forward to learning, photographing and videographing to my heart’s content πŸ™‚

It will be sometime before I show you any pics or videos taken with this camera as I am trying to read the 385-page manual (why do all the gadgets/tools I buy come with gigantic manuals??). I now realise I have a lot to learn about cameras!

PS: Doesn’t it look huge and professional? πŸ™‚ One more thing we liked about this model is, the screen can be flipped around and we can actually take selfies with this camera – and we did!! Woohooo… πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜›

I know about this camera. It is a beautiful one. I hope you enjoy this camera for many more years. Just curious. Why this person was selling this camera within a year? Did you ask or did this person tell you?

He says he bought a new full-frame camera, so he doesn’t need this anymore.. Besides, I have a suspicion that this model is more than one-year old. Possibly 2 to 2.5 years old. I checked the functions that are important to me before buying, all were working fine. Hopefully it will last for another 1 to 1.5 years at least – taking my chances here!!

What I like in you is your hunger to learn new and varied things and passion to finish before your deadline. Looking forward to some nice videos from this precious acquisition.
Best wishes for success in all your endeavours.

Like SG said, it sounds suspicious that someone would want to sell a camera within a year of purchasing. Be wary, especially when you purchase used ones. Congrats once again! Lovely camera.

For this camera, I didn’t have any other option. New Camera costs almost 2x of this price and it’s a 4-year old model – so no point buying a new model now. Hence waiting for manufacturers to release a camera that I want.. will shoot with this camera in the meanwhile πŸ™‚
