A few days back we went to the Vadapalani Murugan Temple, Chennai. We go to Temples for prasadam and stuff like that, but this time we went because of a whatsapp status that showed a video of the Golu dolls kept there for navarathri. Ya, we don’t allow such (photographic) opportunities to pass.
Since it was the last day of navarathri, there was a huge crowd – not at the golu section, but to see the main deity. Unfazed, we went straight to the small queue standing to see the golu dolls.
What luck, the idol of God Muruga was brought around the Temple and it passed by us 🙂
Then we went into the Golu area. So many dolls! Don’t forget to see the photos from my Instagram feed embedded above.
While we were busy photographing the dolls, this wonderful song was being recited by singers invited to the Temple. By the time we could go there to record it, it was over. We transmitted the next song in the Kucheri on Instagram LIVE but that was not even half as good.
Anyways, next, we went to our favorite section – Prasadam. I ate two cups of chakkara pongal as Ramya doesn’t like that! We also bought a puliodharai at the prasadam counter for her, but I ate a good portion of that too 🙂
This was our third golu visit this navarathri season. As the second one was a private collection at a house, we didn’t take photos there. Actually we are not the camera-shy or shy-to-ask type of people, but we were concerned about kannu pattufying due to excessive golu photo publicity!
