    Google Search Conference: My Learnings

Today I went to the Google Search Conference held at Trident Hotel, Chennai. Here are a few of my learnings/highlights from the event – Google looks at more than 200 factors while ranking a webpage for a search query; page rank is just one of them. In 2017 alone Google did more than 2,70,000 experiments with Search and they implemented less than 2500 changes in their algorithms. Everyday, around 15% of the searches are for new keywords. Loading Speed and SSL (https) are important factors for better search result positioning. They suggest we use Structured Data Markup (Schema.org is fine, but Google’s Structured data is preferred) for giving additional information…

For Indian Startups: Next Big Idea Contest 2018

Today I went to the ‘Next Big Idea Contest 2018‘ Chennai-launch event at Atworks Co-working campus, Guindy. This contest is for innovative technology startup companies looking to expand to the North American market. According to the organisers – Zone Startups India & Ontario, Canada this contest offers winners an all-expense paid two-week market access program to three cities in Canada to explore Canada’s startup & innovation ecosystem; incubation opportunity; customer, investor & partner connections. The speakers from Canadian Govt. mentioned that Canada provides an easier gateway to the larger North American market, including the U.S. market which maybe difficult for entrepreneurs to access directly. They also mentioned that since Canada is…

My Experience at our First Exhibition

After attending many exhibitions as a visitor, I had always wanted to participate in one as an exhibitor. That opportunity finally arrived yesterday with our participation in this one-day expo. Planning and preparation took a considerable amount of time. While Ramya had to make the fashion jewellery products, I had to learn and make videos for demonstration. I decided to debut a new service – 3D Photo Slideshows at this expo, hence the need for that learning. We had to design and order banners & visiting cards. We had to keep visitor diaries and bill books. We had to plan for extra table & chairs. Besides, we bought a photography…

Google for Tamil 2.0 Blogger/Publisher Meet, Chennai

Today I went to the Google for Tamil 2.0 Blogger/Online Publisher meet at Zone by the Park, Chennai. This event was organised by Google & IndiBlogger. I guess more than 100 people came today from various parts of Tamil Nadu. Google says that the amount of English content on the Internet is around 55% currently, and the amount of content in Indian languages (including Tamil, Hindi, etc.) is less than 0.1%! With the Internet revolution created by Jio, demand for local language content, especially on mobiles, is growing much faster than content in English – it seems. So they feel there is an opportunity for Tamil publishers, writers, and bloggers…
