Mission Mangal – Every Indian should watch this Movie

View this post on Instagram 2 of total 4 ppl in the theater for this inspiring movie – #MissionMangal. This is a fictional retelling of #ISRO’s #space expedition to #Mars – #Maangalyan. It’s about how they did it against all odds, and with a shoestring budget. Must watch for all #Indians! A post shared by Rajesh K (@wowsuper_net) on Aug 22, 2019 at 9:16am PDT We were 2 of 4 people who watched Mission Mangal, an inspiring movie based on ISRO’s space expedition to Mars – Maangalyan. The makers have done a good job in simplifying the key achievements of the Maangalyan mission so that the story of the team…

    Manikarnika Tamil Movie Review

Yes, this Bollywood movie has been released in Tamil as well. And we saw the Tamil version at Rohini complex, Koyambedu today. Manikarnika, the factual retelling of Rani of Jhansi, could/should’ve been better.   This is Kangana’s first unexpected directorial debut after the original director left midway and she had just 40 days to complete more than 50% of the movie. Or so I read.   Since we generally write our first books and then start learning about writing, this too is Kangana’s first step – so we should encourage her to experiment with different scripts like these, and eventually become a great director.   The first-half of the movie…

Viswasam is 100 Times better than Petta

Script wise, Viswasam is at least 100 times better than Petta. Viswasam has a strong antagonist – the situation, not Jagapathi Babu. Petta, in spite of having three capable actors – Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Sethupathi & Bobby Simha, couldn’t match one Raghuvaran, one Ramya Krishna or one Radha Ravi. Sad. I am surprised that a ‘Superhero’ like Ajith even agreed to do such an offbeat movie – given his established mass hero status. Kudos to his selection. And Nayantara keeps proving how good her script selection is – quite regularly, nowadays! These two movies, accidentally released at the same time, proves that even Superheroes need strong antagonists, they need to…

    Pettai: Fan-made Video

Here is a fan-video I made for upcoming Rajinikanth’s Tamil movie – Petta. This is a crafts-themed video, with the woollen thread craft made by Ramya and the paper cup craft made at a recent show we went to. I have animated Tamil characters for the first time. Do you like it? 🙂 Destination Infinity

2.0 Movie Review: No Logic, but VFX makes movie Enjoyable :)

So we watched 2.0 Tamil movie today at Sathyam Cinemas, Royapettah. We were waiting for the right movie to visit this famous theatre and this film did not let us down. 2.0 is an excellent entertainer as far as Action and VFX is considered. But if you are a serious movie watcher who expects logic, characterisation, story, etc. this movie may not live up to your expectations. The Bad The first thing that was very odd in this movie was – the villain fights for the right reason (his way of fighting may be wrong.. but still we are clearly able to empathise with his cause). In most movies we…

    Tamil Padam 2 = S.U.P.E.R. F.U.N. (Review)

Tamil Padam 2 is S.U.P.E.R. F.U.N. I think it’s better to watch the movie in the theater as the crowd’s enthusiasm catches upon you as well. You can enjoy more if you’ve been watching other hit movies recently (particularly Tamil films). But even otherwise, it’s a marana kalai of new/old Tamil movies, English movies (Yes), Politics, and even e-commerce  😀 Somehow I feel Tamil Padam 2 is even better than the older Tamil Padam. But why did they take so many years to come up with a sequel? Enough said, now you go and watch 🙂 Destination Infinity Here is the Tamil Padam 2 ‘Official’ Teaser – Actually, I think the…

Tik Tik Tik is an Excellent Movie. Watch it in the Theater!

Tik Tik Tik is a GOOD MOVIE. Just watched it at Rohini Complex and I think all of us should watch it in the cinemas. We should encourage bold, experimental movies like this, especially from Kollywood! There may be a few logical flaws and many scenes may be unbelievable. But the movie worked as a whole and the story was gripping enough to keep me engaged. The CG work was comparable to Hollywood standards. I am glad to see such good work in a Tamil movie. What we don’t know is, there are studios that routinely work for Hollywood from here and they have produced excellent graphics earlier too. Tik…

    Kaala Movie Review

Kaala Movie Review: *Plus: AC, Selfie with Thalaivar’s banner, Veg. Puff & Popcorn… *Minus: Everything else. Finally, a Rajni movie that makes more sound than Sivaji. And is more storyless than Sivaji. Am glad that at least one FB friend of mine mentioned about the absence of a credible storyline. Is this the same director who directed Madras? Kabali was a hundred times better. An agenda is not a movie. Destination Infinity

Why does a Rajnikanth’s Movie (Kaala) Need Ads?

I don’t understand why a Rajnikanth movie – Kaala or anything else for that matter, need any marketing/ads? Doesn’t everyone in Tamil Nadu or every Tamil-speaking person in the world know about the movie release already? Creative marketing efforts like Twitter launching an emoji that appears when you type #Kaala are interesting. But I wonder why this movie needs ads on TV/Net? Maybe the creators could have done something about the actual issue: Improving the availability of tickets during the first few days of the movie release. Rajni may have tried, but his efforts don’t seem to be sufficient 😉 Destination Infinity PS: I am in no hurry to watch this…
